Worship without music

Worship without music

is it really that difficult?

So we have 3 dates coming up when we have no band; May 4th, May 24th and July 27th.

I've been looking around various websites to see what I can 'nick' in the way of ideas, and there are a surprising amount of blogs that tell you it can and even should be done more often, trouble is they feel big on telling you it can be done but then short on giving you ideas to do it!

So my big question is when did worship become more about what I, as a consumer, like and less about God and His worth?

There's no doubt that as I am planning for this I feel more concerned with how people will 'like it' rather than whether or not God will!

Interestingly for me, although I love sung worship and can be deeply moved by music, the real moments where I've got lost in worship and wonder of who God is and where God has spoke deep into my being have been when I am worshiping Him alone and normally with silence (or relative silence as my quiet times sometimes get noisy!)

So is our worship about our preferences or about a God who created the heavens and the earth?

Is it about being around someone we love or do we need props to keep our attention?

Is it enough that God loved us so much that He gave or does He need to continually entertain us?

I don't have answers only questions and a nagging feeling that we've forgot who God is in our desire to be entertained.

This may be just for me but I sense the need to get the spark back into the relationship; to get back to the place where just to wake up is an excuse for joy and worship.

And the strange thing is, that can only come from drawing aside and taking time out to quietly be with my God and reconnect.

You might lose your way - But don't lose your address!
